How we rank
Every ranking on this site comes from the same calculation. Here you can read which data we use and what does not count.
The calculation
For each category we publish criteria with a weight. Every tool gets points from 0 to 1 per criterion. The score is the weighted sum, converted to 0 to 100. Tools with the same score are listed alphabetically, and we name them together as a shared first place.
Where the data comes from
We read each vendor’s website, documentation and pricing page and note the source and the date for every data point. If a data point is missing, it counts as 0 and we show “unknown”. If we have a source for less than half of the weight, “Insufficient data” appears next to the score: that score then mainly says what we could not check yet. A vendor can fill in missing data with a source.
AI summaries
The short summary at the top of a profile and on the list is written with AI, and the page says so. The model only gets our checked data: the criteria with their status, the price, the languages and the registration methods. It may add nothing, use no superlatives and name no number that is not in that data. An editor reads every text before it goes online.
When a data point changes, the summary disappears until there is a new one. We only write a summary of reviews (“What do users say?”) from 5 published reviews. The score and the order never come from AI.
What does not count
Paying, advertising or being a customer of ours does not change the score or the order. Our data model has no field for it.
Responsiveness
The profile of a claimed tool shows how fast the vendor answers Compare 3 requests (usually within how much time, and how many requests were answered) and what share of the reviews got a reply. We measure that the same way for every vendor, over the last 12 months, and only show it from 3 requests or 3 reviews. These facts never change the score, the order or the awards, and you cannot buy them or have them removed. If a vendor does not answer a request for 7 working days, we temporarily stop forwarding new requests until its next visit to the portal. Even then the tool stays in the list with the same score.
Commercial relationships
Vendors can buy a paid profile, buyer signals or intros from us. That does not change the score or the order. Read how we earn money.
Field Grid and awards
Next to the ranking, every season we place the tools of a category on the Field Grid: fit from this criteria score against the satisfaction of verified users. The awards follow from that. Read how the Field Grid and the awards work.
